Our Christmas Mantra

While thinking of what we want for Christmas, what we should buy for the kids....what we should buy for each other, and if we have done enough, it is easy to get lost and go overboard.  Not only because we have obvious limitations to what we spend, but because we would like to keep perspective on what this holiday is about, we have decided on this philosophy for our gifting to one another this year, and beyond...

Something you want,
Something you need,
Something to wear,
and something to read.

I feel less stress already. :)

I hear ya, sister! I have never had more enjoyable holidays than when we adopted our new "1 Santa & 1 Mom/Dad" policy. Throw in a pair of Christmas PJs & the holiday is low-stress & wonderful. Yay for scalin' it down!

We heard that last year from our good friends. We're doing the exact same thing this year :)

Good idea but gramma likes to spoil. It's a right . . look it up in the gramma handbook. :)

We do something similar and love it. We do 3 presents from mom and dad and the stocking from santa. It is awesome. Not only does it make me really stop to think about what we are buying, but it simplifies expectations all around.

Super awesome idea! Nick and I go through this dilemma every year.
